This spring, the International Speech contests and the Speech Evaluation contest will feature contestants from each of the ten Divisions vying for the title of District Champion. These contestants started their journey to the District Contests by winning at the Club level, winning at the Area level and winning at the Division level. From over 7,000 members in District 60, the top ten speakers and evaluators in the District will compete for the coveted District title.
The winner of the International Speech contest will go on to represent the District at the Region VI Conference hosted by District 61 in Ottawa on June 6th and 7th, and the winner there will go on to represent the Region at the International Convention in Calgary, Alberta on Aug. 13th–16th, competing for the title of the World Champion of Public Speaking.
As David Brooks, World Champion of Public Speaking in 1990, said during his visit last fall, "Speakers don't compete because they are good, they are good because they compete." Come out and see why these competitors are the best speakers and evaluators in the district. Learn from the best in the district. Pick up pointers by watching their presentations. Or just sit back and enjoy the awe–inspiring performances.
We invite you to come out and support the contestants from your Club, your Area or your Division as they compete in the run-off contests on Friday evening, the International Speech finals on Saturday afternoon, and the Speech Evaluation contests on Sunday morning.
